For the second year running, Bostäder i Borås is setting a record for the number of summer jobs for young people. After last year's initiative, the company is now taking an even bigger step and offering just over 200 young people the chance to try out working life in the housing areas of Borås. This week the company is visiting the city's upper secondary schools to encourage young people to apply for the jobs.
- We are very proud to be able to offer so many young people a valuable introduction to working life, says Genc Avdiu, acting head of area development at Bostäder i Borås. It is an important part of our work not only to manage housing but also to contribute to a living and pleasant community. Through our work we give young people the chance to develop their skills, gain practical experience and contribute to our work on improving the living environment in Borås.
This week, representatives from Bostäder i Borås are visiting the city's upper secondary schools to tell students about the chance to apply for their first jobs. Just over 200 young people, born between 2006 and 2008, will be given the chance to work on the care of properties, green spaces and playgrounds, and on arranging leisure activities for children and young people. Recruitment takes place through the Borås Stad website and the application period is already well under way. The closing date for applications is 3 March.
- Our aim is to give as many young people as possible the chance to try out their first jobs, says Genc Avdiu. We know that this experience is a good way into the labour market, and that the responsibility the work brings is very developing for young people. At the same time, we also see that our tenants appreciate the improvements the summer workers make in our areas. There really are only winners in this project.
