Bostäder i Borås has now begun this year's rent negotiations for 2026 together with the Swedish Union of Tenants. As in previous years, the company follows the three-party agreement between the Swedish Union of Tenants, the Swedish Property Federation and Sveriges Allmännytta.

- It is always a balancing act to make rents and our costs add up, says Madelen Svensson, head of finance at Bostäder i Borås. At the same time we have to be clear that rents are our only source of income and the basis for being able to look after the buildings and develop the housing. When rent increases have been lower than our actual cost increases for several years, that of course has consequences for how much we can maintain and invest.

Under the three-party system, the negotiations between the company and the Swedish Union of Tenants start from a shared set of facts. Both local costs such as electricity, heating, waste and maintenance, and national factors such as interest rates, GDP and inflation are taken into account.

- Our aim is to find an agreement that is both reasonable for tenants here and now, and that at the same time gives us the scope to care for and develop our properties over the long term, Madelen Svensson continues. That way we can keep offering safe, well-kept homes in the future too.

As soon as the negotiations are concluded, all tenants will receive information about their new rent.
