This summer an unusually large number of young people in Borås will be working on the care of properties, playgrounds and green spaces. The public housing company Bostäder i Borås is multiplying its investment in summer workers, from the usual 28 to 125. The company is also planning to develop the summer jobs so that young people have work during every school holiday.

- Many of our tenants are young people, says Talar Kirkor, head of area development at Bostäder i Borås. Summer jobs are a good introduction to working life and often lead to further employment. That is why we want to give the chance to even more people, and at the same time offer all our tenants a more attractive living environment.

The summer jobs are part of the Bostäder i Borås plan for positive area development. The young people get the chance to develop in their working life and look after their local surroundings, while their efforts make the areas cleaner and better cared for. They are employed through the municipality, and Bostäder i Borås is responsible for putting them to work. Because of the large increase in staff, the company has also recruited young supervisors, together with RF SISU, who have been trained in leadership.

- As a housing company we see great opportunities to contribute to meaningful employment, says Talar Kirkor. A summer job with us is a way into the labour market and a point on your CV that you can be really proud of.
