The public housing company Bostäder i Borås has made a major investment in summer jobs for young people this year. The public housing company Bostäder i Borås has made a major investment in summer jobs for young people this year. More than 200 young people are ready to take on care and maintenance in several of the city's areas. That is a marked increase from the 25 summer workers hired just a couple of years ago.

- We are extremely proud to be able to expand our summer job programme so sharply, says Genc Avdiu, acting head of area development at Bostäder i Borås. This record investment lets us both give young people valuable work experience and improve our housing areas, making a positive contribution for our tenants.

The 200 summer workers will take on a range of tasks, including looking after properties, maintaining green spaces and playgrounds, and organising leisure activities for children and young people. The project gives them a chance to develop their skills and get a first insight into working life, which is an important part of their personal and professional development.

- We see great value in being able to offer these summer jobs, says Genc Avdiu. The young people not only get an insight into working life but also a chance to contribute to society and to our housing areas. Our tenants really appreciate the improvement these young workers bring. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved.

The company began increasing the number of summer workers back in last year, and the response has been good from both young people and tenants. The practical experience and the responsible tasks that the summer jobs involve help the young people prepare for the future, while making a real difference in the housing company's areas.
