Why the rent negotiation matters

2 min read

Rent is our only source of income. It decides how well we can look after our areas, our buildings and your home. Here we explain why.

Why we talk about rent
The money we receive through rent goes straight back into the buildings and the areas. It pays for heating and water, repairs, renovations, safety and maintenance. That is the basis for you and your neighbours having a home that works and a pleasant environment.

How the negotiations work
In the negotiations with Hyresgästföreningen we talk about both the present and the future: how the costs of the properties have risen, what investments are needed to make them last, and how we can at the same time arrive at a reasonable and stable development of rents.

This year is especially difficult, as our interest costs have tripled and other costs have also risen more than normal over the past three years. But we are doing our best to find a reasonable level that works both for you and for us.

Why rents matter
Your rent is our only source of income. In recent years the costs of heating, electricity, water, interest and waste have risen sharply, and they keep rising. In the past we have absorbed a large part of that increase internally by changing our organisation, but we need to find a better balance.
That means rents have to keep up with the pace at which costs have risen, so that we can continue to look after the buildings and take proper care of your home.

Our promise to you who live with us
We do not take out any profit. Every krona that comes in through rent is used to run, maintain and develop our properties and areas, so that in future too we can offer safe, well-kept homes for everyone in Borås.

We know that rent increases can feel hard. That is why we want to be open about what is happening, and at the same time we want you to feel that we are doing our utmost to keep your home safe and working well.
