How we cut littering by 56%

To find solutions we needed to understand what the problem is and how we can make it easier for our tenants to do the right thing. Together with some of Sweden's sharpest behavioural experts at Nordic Behaviour Group, we challenged ourselves and mapped the behaviours behind the illegal dumping of bulky waste.

After listening to our tenants, our staff and organisations working in Hässleholmen, we launched a solution tailored to those needs, which sharply reduced our littering problem:

• Between April and June, illegal dumping fell by 56 per cent

• Our staff halved the time they spent removing bulky waste

• The cost per tonne of waste collected has halved compared with earlier solutions
