Everything from the nicest place to go out to where you buy the best sandwich. Whether you are new in town or have lived here a while, you are sure to find something that suits you.

Places to eat
Macca - A small restaurant in the middle of town serving sandwiches with a taste of Italy. Perfect to take away and enjoy in the city park around the corner.
Mini Tokyo - When you fancy something Asian, there is a small two-storey restaurant at Allégatan 60. Very good sushi and incredible bao buns.
Basso - Behind Caroli church in the middle of town you will find the little pasta bar Basso. Here you can buy homemade pasta, Italian small plates and filling sandwiches.

Places to hang out
Brasseriet - Along Allégatan you will find the restaurant Brasseriet, which has plenty of events and activities every week. There is karaoke on Thursdays, after work from Monday to Saturday and much more.
X&Y - If you are more into nightlife, the nightclub X&Y is at Kungsgatan 46. On Thursdays they run Klubb Pank for students, with reduced prices right up until midnight.
Bowlers - In Pallashuset you will find Bowlers, with pool, shuffleboard, bowling, karaoke and much more. On Sundays they have Bowling n Burgers, where you get a burger and a one-hour game of bowling for 150kr per person.

When you want to get out into nature
Rya åsar - Right next to the centre you will find beautiful Rya åsar. There are several walking trails through varied terrain, lovely viewpoints and several pleasant barbecue spots. For anyone who likes trail running or mountain biking, challenging races are held in the nature reserve every year. Read more about the races here.

There are several walking trails, barbecue spots, a lovely lake to swim in, a sauna, an outdoor gym and places to fish. In summer there is also a café where you can buy ice cream and drinks.

If you want to spend the day out on the water, there is also a Kayakomat where you can hire a kayak or a SUP board. There is a student discount through Mecenat as well. Read more about the Kayakomat here.

Places for fika
Divine - This is the perfect café for a day of studying. There is a cosy atmosphere, good coffee and a wide choice of cakes and lunch dishes.
Orion - Café Orion is at Österlånggatan 51. The menu has everything from salads and pies to perhaps the best cinnamon buns in town.
Café Viskan - On Sandwalls plats, right by the river that runs through Borås, you will find the popular Café Viskan. There is something for everyone here: breakfast buffet, brunch, lunch and fika. During the warmer months they also have a large and lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the Viskan and the city park.

Second hand
Stadsmissionen - This spring Stadsmissionen opened a shop on Österlånggatan right in the centre. It has textiles, home furnishings and a wide range of clothes to pick through.

Things to do
Discover the city's museums - Borås has several museums to explore. Next to Knalleland is the photography and art museum Abecita, which has several interesting exhibitions, and as a student you pay only 60 kr to get in. Textilmuséet, Borås museum and Borås konstmuseum have free entry for students. There is also plenty of street art and sculpture to see around the city.
Borås simarena - If you like swimming, Borås Simarena is at Alidelundsgatan 12. You get the student price on admission if you show your student ID.
Quiz - A pub quiz can be the best way to spend time together, can't it? Several places in the centre run a regular quiz every week. On Tuesdays there is a quiz at Bowlers, and on Thursdays you can start with the music quiz at Grevend Bar & Casino and then move on to the quiz at Wisers Pub. And every Friday Brasseriet ends its after-work with a quiz. The week is saved.

Bonus tips
Outlets - Borås is, as you may know, a city with a lot of companies and warehouses. So there are sometimes warehouse sales and outlets in the city, which is a perfect chance to pick up nice things and clothes at good prices. Some outlets are open all year round. Out in Viared is Ellos Group Outlet, full of furniture, home furnishings and clothes at really good prices.
Too good to go - This one is not unique to Borås, but it is a very good student tip. Too good to go is an app where you can buy cheap food from shops and restaurants that would otherwise be thrown away. It is good for your wallet and it cuts food waste. Read more and download the app.
Hiring a van - Do you need a van for the move, for a day at the flea markets or to bring home a sofa for your student apartment? Then the Ezeto app is a good tip. It lets you hire vans in different sizes very easily. You download the app, register and sort everything out there. There is also a student discount through Mecenat. Read more about Ezeto.
We hope one of these tips suits you and that you will enjoy living in Borås.
