For a better Hässleholmen
As many as 4,103 people took part in our survey about the living environment, wellbeing and growing up in Hässleholmen. Read about how we use the answers and how you can help shape the future.
The survey
In the autumn of 2022 we carried out a big survey in Hässleholmen. It asked questions about the living environment, well-being and conditions for growing up. As many as 4,103 of the 7,200 (2020) people living in Hässleholmen answered the survey, which is 55 % of everyone who lives in the area. Of these, 3,941 live in Hässleholmen and 163 work in the area.
Five things turned out to matter most to the people who answered. They are grouped into the following focus areas: Our homes, In the area, Communication, Activities and Safety. We use these as the basis for creating, together, the area that so many people dream of. We respect that everything cannot be done at once and that things take time, but we have decided that it can be done. We work every day on our buildings, and on the life in and between them. It is work we are very proud of and glad to do together with our tenants.
We want to say a big thank you to all of you who shared your thoughts and dreams with us. Your answers give us invaluable insight into what matters to you. Now the work continues to develop Hässleholmen together into an even better place to live. That is something we will never stop doing.
Driving forces

"I live in Hässleholmen and sit on the board of the Iqra association and Hässleholmen's voluntary umbrella organisation (HIP). My dream is for Hässleholmen to become like any other part of town and not be called a deprived area. To me, Hässleholmen is my home and a safe place where I watch my children grow up. My favourite spot is the playground, where there are so many different things to do."

"I grew up in Hässleholmen and have lived on almost every street in the area. Now I live on Kapplandsgatan and give my time to Brokyrkan, Ordpalatset and many other activities for children and young people. My dream is for Hässleholmen to be a place where people from different backgrounds can meet and understand each other. To me, Hässleholmen is home, full of friendly people and interesting relationships. One of my favourite spots is the hill by the jogging track in Bodaskogen."

"Ever since I moved here from Kosovo in 2006 I have been part of this lovely area. I used to work as a youth worker and now I am a youth coordinator at Hässlehuset. Through different activities and associations I have built commitment and community among young people. My dream is that no one should have to struggle financially and that everyone should have the chance of a better life here in Hässleholmen. My favourite spot is Fjärdingsparken, but I have many good memories from other places too."

"I live in Hässleholmen and my aim is to make the area safer and to help others develop their language skills and their education. Through my work at the meeting place in Hultahuset I invite people to different activities and offer support and advice to those who need it. My dream is for Hässleholmen to be an inclusive and safe area where young people can succeed in their studies and go on to contribute to society. My favourite spot is the playground on Distansgatan, a green and pleasant place for families and children."

"I have lived in Hässleholmen since I came to Sweden 11 years ago. By arranging activities for children and young people I hope to bring more joy and safety. My dream is for Hässleholmen to keep improving - a great deal is already better than it was 5-8 years ago, but the dreams never run out and I always want to see further improvement. To me, Hässleholmen is a safe place full of joy and love, and I want to show that the area has far more to offer than many people may think. My favourite spot is Hässlehuset, but I have many other favourite places around the area."

"I have lived here since 2006 and I am now part of the Tunnan housing community. As a study circle leader in the joinery workshop, active in the hen and growing cooperative and a participant in safety walks, I am glad to help build community in the area. My dream is for Hässleholmen to be taken off the list of particularly deprived areas. My favourite spot is the hen yard with the allotments, where I enjoy my morning coffee at sunrise."

"I have lived in Hässleholmen for 15 years and have volunteered through Hyresgästföreningen and the ISTK centre for 10 years. My dream is to make Hässleholmen safer and more closely knit, a place where everyone feels at home. The area means everything to me - my nearest and dearest live here, and I have lived here since I was a teenager. My favourite spot is Hässle Torg, and I look forward to more places to gather where we can build community together."
